8.05 Event Permits

For special events of a temporary and transitory nature (Article III of the By-Laws) held at Devens, the powers of the DEC are restricted to the following:

  1. Issuance of food preparation and vending licenses for the event;

  2. Assuring provision of temporary sanitation facilities (as needed);

  3. Responding to nuisance complaints (see 974 CMR 4.00). The DEC reserves the right to anticipate potential nuisance conditions at the time the event is proposed and to require assurance of non-impact or reasonable mitigation commitments at the time the Event Permit is issued; and

  4. Imposition of protective measures involving the active use (i.e., boating, swimming, or fishing) of a surface water resource.

MassDevelopment retains all other regulatory responsibilities for events, including issuance of the Permit.
